Fun filled days can be spent on fairie trails, at The Touch Farm, learning to kayak at Gubu Dam and so much more.

Fun filled days are guaranteed for all the children who visit Forest Way. Based right at the edge of the indigenous forest, all sorts of activities are on offer for the energetic and brave at heart. From learning the skills of archery, to scrambling through obstacle courses and abseiling down the 7metre wall, there is always a multitude of activities to occupy lively youngsters.

Forest Way caters for day visitors as well as school parties who usually stay for a few days or up to a week. They offer environmental and outdoor educational programmes and can accommodate up to 92 children in two separate venues. Walks through the forest to play in the waterfalls can also be an enlightening experience, especially for those from cities as a qualified field guide will teach about the indigenous flora and fauna, birds and endangered species that live safely in our area.

From Pot Bellied Pigs to Dwarf Goats and an Egyptian Goose called ‘Lucky Duck’, what a wonderful way for children, both large and small, to spend the day. With so many exciting experiences in store, and fun around every corner, little minds are always enthusiastically full of questions about all the animals they can watch, feed and touch.

Sharon and Raymond Haynes moved to Stutterheim almost 5 years ago and have always had a complete menagerie of pets. In July 2008 they decided to extend their family of animals and open their doors to the public, and so the idea of The Birds Nest Touch Farm was born.

The Hornbills Forest Fairy Trail has been established to sew the seed, in young children, about the need to protect the Earth’s diversity of flora and fauna species, its natural resources and its endangered atmosphere. The Fairy walk is a wonderful adventure of discovery and fun and hopefully it will engender a life-long passion for the health of Planet Earth.

The Hornbills Forest Fairy Trail takes place in the pristine, beautiful, fragile and fabulous Xolora Forest – part of the great African Montane Forests.
